Autumn is the time when it is necessary to prepare the garden for the upcoming winter.

And if everyone knows about pruning, then other important manipulations can be overlooked.

Caring for black currants in autumn

The first step is to clean the trunk area. To do this, remove old mulch and fallen leaves.

Then the bushes are pruned, during which it is necessary to get rid of all the woody shoots that thicken the bush.

After pruning, the currant bush must be watered. Each bush will need 1-2 liters of water.

And don't forget about fertilizing. Before the onset of cold weather, black currants need potassium and phosphorus.

The plant can be fed with superphosphate and potassium sulfate. Those who prefer natural fertilizers should use wood ash.

It is also necessary to treat the bushes from diseases and pests. In the first case, copper-containing preparations are suitable, in the second - means against glassworm.

The final stage is mulching with organic matter. Rotted compost or humus are suitable as mulch.
