In late autumn, you should pay attention to the compost so that the fertilizer matures well.
To do this, you need to do three things in November.
A compost pit is a unique thing. It takes waste and provides valuable fertilizer. To keep it that way, the pile should be prepared for winter.
The first thing you need to do is thoroughly turn over the top layer of compost. This is a mandatory step before wintering. For convenience, it is better to use a pitchfork.
In addition, for the fertilizer to mature, moisture is needed. If the autumn is also dry, then it is necessary to water the compost.
And finally, it remains to cover the compost. For this, you can use a dense layer of leaves (30–40 cm), branches, sawdust and other organic matter.
You can also sprinkle the compost with a thick layer of soil.
For reference
Compost is an organic fertilizer obtained as a result of the decomposition of various organic materials under the influence of the activity of micro- and macroorganisms.
