The orchid begins to wither, the gardeners try to save it, but nothing works, so they rush to throw away such a plant.
In fact, fixing the problem is quite simple. The main thing is to know the correct sequence of actions.
An expert of the online publication "TUT NOVOSTI", agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh explained why a purchased orchid suddenly begins to wither.
First of all, you need to see if there is a peat tablet or a peat cup in the pot. A small orchid is planted in them, but subsequently the tablet (cup) only accumulates moisture.
Most often, the tablet is placed at the base of the plant. Therefore, first you need to pour out the soil, and then remove it.
Along with the tablet, the velamen sheaths of dry and rotten roots are also removed. It is easily removed.
If the roots are grey, it's time to water the orchid. If they are green, moisture is not needed yet. But yellowness signals that the root has started to rot.
In this case, you need to continue saving the plant. First of all, you need to remove the flower stalks so that they do not take away the orchid's strength.
Next, remove all rotting roots and plant the flower in sphagnum. If the air in the room is dry, the orchid can be covered with a bag.
When new roots form, you can transplant the flower to a permanent location.
