It may seem to summer residents and gardeners that composting does not require any special knowledge.
However, sometimes people make mistakes by adding inappropriate ingredients to the mixture.
What Not to Add to Compost
Let's start with the fact that there is no place for pet excrement in compost, first of all, we are talking about waste products of cats and dogs. But the fur of four-legged animals can be used.
You should not use a used ventilation filter, as it accumulates synthetic particles, which, as we know, do not decompose in the soil.
You should also avoid the idea of using the contents of a vacuum cleaner dust bag, since seemingly harmless household dust may contain harmful substances.
Do not add to the compost those weeds that have already formed seeds. The same applies to plants that root easily: they can germinate in the compost heap.
Avoid composting paper. Glossy colored pictures are especially dangerous, as the paint may contain heavy metals.
