Spring is the most important time for the start of vegetation of any crops, and garden strawberries are no exception.
At the beginning of the season, the “foundation” of the future berry harvest is formed, and fertilizing plays an important role in its formation.
Expert of the online publication "TUT NOVOSTI", agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told how to feed strawberries in the spring.
Gardeners should do this immediately after the snow melts. This is usually late March – early April.
Spring feeding for garden strawberries is prepared from several ingredients and applied under the root.
You need to take 3 g of potassium permanganate, ½ teaspoon of boric acid, 1 tablespoon of urea and ½ cup of wood ash. These ingredients need to be combined in 10 liters of water.
Plants are watered according to the following scheme: at least 500 ml of solution is added under the roots.
The solution contains all the necessary nutrients that strawberries need at the beginning of the season.
But before adding fertilizer, you need to tidy up the garden bed. Remove mulch, dried leaves and other debris.
If the soil has dried out after the snow melts, then the strawberries should be watered with regular water before adding fertilizer. If the soil is damp, then this is not necessary.
Earlier we talked about a strawberry variety that produces up to 3 kg of berries from one bush, and the fruits themselves are the size of a tennis ball.
