Sometimes when growing peppers a problem arises that the plant begins to lose its leaves.

The reasons may lie in various problems with both the crop itself and the technology of its cultivation.

Together with the expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, scientist agronomist, landscape designer Anastasia Kovrizhnykh , we figure out what can lead to this problem.

Causes of leaf fall

Pepper leaves may fall off for the following reasons:

  • the water for irrigation is too cold, for example, the crop is watered directly from a hose;
  • the plant is infested with spider mites or aphids;
  • the bed is located in the shade, although pepper is not only a heat-loving but also a light-loving crop;
  • the plant lacks nutrients.

3 ways to fight

If the presence of spider mites or aphids is visible to the naked eye on the bushes, then they must be promptly treated with insecticides.

If watering or an incorrect planting location is to blame, then you need to adjust the watering and make sure that the water is not too cold. It is also important to provide the peppers with enough light.

If there are not enough nutrients, then you should feed the pepper with a quick-dissolving mineral fertilizer; it is recommended to repeat the procedure after two weeks.
