These vegetables have unique characteristics, so sellers charge decent prices for them.

There are 4 products that you won't find in the basket of an ordinary buyer, because their price tags amaze even sophisticated consumers.

Expert of the online publication TUT NOVOSTI, agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh spoke about the most expensive vegetables in the world.

Wasabi

The high cost of the product is explained by the complexity of cultivation. Farmers have to put in a lot of effort to "please" the capricious crop. Hence the price tag of $250 per 1 kg.

French fries

The unique La Bonnotte variety is grown in only one place on the planet. This potato is grown on the French island of Noirmoutier in the Atlantic Ocean.

The local air is quite salty. It is necessary to give the root crop a special taste. The harvest is collected exclusively by hand.

About 100 tons are grown per year, and French potatoes are sold out in 1-2 weeks. Buyers are not put off by the price of 500-600 euros per 1 kg.

American Hops

North America is home to the tiny hop cone. It is so small that farmers grow huge numbers of plants to provide the necessary nutritional value.

But the effort expended is more than compensated by the cost of the product – $975 per 1 kg.

Matsutake mushroom

It tastes like cinnamon meat and grows mainly in Japan, but is also found on Sakhalin. In Russia, it is listed in the Red Book. In the Russian Federation, it is a criminal offense to collect it.

Farmers have tried to grow it, but so far no one can boast of success.

Japanese fans of the "quiet hunt" do not manage to collect so many matsutake - about 1 thousand tons per year. The cost of 1 kg reaches $2-5 thousand.

Earlier we talked about why you should always plant marigolds in a greenhouse.
