Sometimes gardeners add wood ash to their beds as fertilizer.

But if used incorrectly, this product can harm plants.

Agronomist Anastasia Kovrizhnykh told what to pay attention to when using ash in the garden.

Mistakes of gardeners

You should not use ash with mineral fertilizers.

Such a combination, instead of the expected benefit, will only bring harm to garden crops.

It is not recommended to apply ash and phosphorus fertilizers at the same time.

It is necessary to take into account that ash contains a lot of phosphorus. And an excess of this microelement may not have the best effect on plants.

It is also important to consider that ash feeding is not suitable for all plants. Conifers, hydrangeas or roses will not like it.

What to look out for

Not all ash can act as a useful fertilizer. It depends on what exactly was burned.

Ash from burning garbage, plastic, paper and other similar things is not suitable.

Do not use ashes from burning newspapers and other printed materials due to the presence of paint.

It is better not to feed plants with ashes from the grill if special lighter fluid was used for this purpose.
