The process of pruning remontant raspberries differs from pruning ordinary varieties of berries.
Let's figure out how not to harm plants before the onset of cold weather.
Repair raspberry: pruning in autumn
Everbearing raspberry varieties are distinguished by the fact that they yield two harvests per year. The first is collected in the spring, and the second in the fall, when the berries ripen on the branches of the first year of life.
In view of this, autumn pruning of this shrub differs in that after the end of fruiting, the above-ground part of the plant must be cut off completely for the second time.
However, there is a nuance in this case. Plants growing in rather cold regions do not have time to fully ripen during the season, therefore, they do not need to have their above-ground parts completely removed.
Also note that the plant is not cut to the root. After the autumn pruning, branches of at least 10 centimeters in height should remain.
Active cutting of shoots should be carried out already in the second year to stimulate the plant to produce a rich harvest.
