Slugs cause a lot of trouble for gardeners and vegetable growers.

Sweeping away everything in their path, they spoil and sometimes completely destroy the harvest. Strawberries are especially hard hit.

As soon as the berries ripen, these voracious creatures immediately begin to attack them, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

There are many ways to protect strawberries from slugs. The most popular of them is manual picking. This is a safe and gentle method, but far from the easiest and most effective. There are also various chemicals. However, their "lethal" composition repels not only pests, but also people.

There are 3 ways to protect strawberries from slugs.

Ash

Ash scattered on the beds prevents slugs from moving. Small grains stick to their bodies and prevent them from moving normally.

Salt

Salt irritates the delicate shell of mollusks, so they cannot overcome areas with this substance on their surface.
Salt should be poured in strips around the entire perimeter of the beds.

Fragrant greens

Slugs cannot stand the smell of some plants. For example, garlic, rosemary, sage, parsley. Planted next to strawberries, this aromatic greenery repels pests all season long.

Previously, it was reported about a fertilizer that stimulates the flowering of the Decembrist .
