Everyone knows about basic care of fruit trees. But why not use various tricks?
Experienced gardeners have named several tips that will help maintain the good condition of fruit trees, simultaneously increasing their yield.
Installation of supports
To help the branches support the additional weight of ripening fruits, experienced gardeners recommend installing supports, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
Strong Y-shaped stakes are placed under the most loaded branches. This is important because if there are too many fruits on the tree, the branches become overloaded, and this can cause many difficulties in the future.
What fertilizers to apply
If we consider additional fertilizers, it makes sense to use phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. As a preventive measure, it is better to apply fertilizers to the root circle of the fruit tree.
Per square meter you can add: 25 g of superphosphate and 20 g of potassium chloride. Of course, these fertilizers must first be mixed in water and the soil must be watered.
Whitewash
Whitewashing is a great way to protect trees from pests and sunlight.
For whitewashing, you can use a mixture that is sold in specialized stores. You can make it yourself by mixing together:
1. 4 parts clay.
2. 1 part ash.
3. 1 part mullein.
All this needs to be filled with water and mixed thoroughly until a uniform consistency is achieved.
Pest control
Removing fallen leaves is important because they may contain insects and spores that can cause plant diseases.
Digging up the soil around trees helps to move overwintering pests to greater depths.
Removing old and dried branches
If there are dried branches on a fruit tree, they must be removed immediately.
There is no point in such branches, and they can overload the tree, preventing its normal development. Therefore, it is worth regularly checking the condition of the tree and pruning it in a timely manner.
