In October, there is usually nothing left to do in the garden.
However, there are a couple of ways to get fresh tomatoes until mid-autumn.
First, at the beginning of September, before the rains begin, it is important to feed the bushes. For active fruiting, tomatoes need a double dose of potassium, and the feeding is carried out on the leaf, not under the root.
To prepare the fertilizer, you will need 10 grams of boric acid diluted in water and added to the potassium fertilizer.
This mixture helps the ovaries to ripen even if the plants are already without leaves. The main thing is to maintain a temperature range of +10 to +20 degrees.
Secondly, if the stem is still green and the tomatoes on it are not ripe, you can pull it out along with the roots and hang it in a warm, dry and well-ventilated room, where the plants will not be afraid of the coming frosts.
This will help the fruits to take all the nutrients from the plants and gradually ripen.
