Horseradish can be called one of the most popular vegetables. However, many summer residents know that growing horseradish on their plot is a real challenge.

It is demanding of growing conditions and even a minor mistake can cause serious problems.

Therefore, it is worth remembering a few tricks for growing it, which will allow you to get an excellent result, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

Which landing site to choose

The location is of the utmost importance; the soil must be fertile and at the same time loose.
At the same time, planting on clay soil should not be allowed, because in this case, there will be no talk of full-fledged cultivation. Also, if water stagnates in the planting site, this can lead to rotting of the root system.

How to prepare the soil

Before planting, it makes sense to add compost or humus to the soil to provide the plants with the necessary nutrients.
Of course, only a small amount of fertilizer should be applied; too much can damage the root system.

How to plant

Horseradish can be grown from seeds or cuttings, but the most common method is cuttings.

To do this, you need to select healthy cuttings and plant them in prepared beds at a depth of about 5-7 cm with a distance between plants of about 30-45 cm.
After planting, you need to carefully water the soil. And here it is worth remembering that the soil should be slightly moistened. If there is too much moisture, the roots of the plants may begin to rot.

What fertilizers can be applied?

Phosphorus and potassium are what it needs. If we talk about nitrogen fertilizers, then their use should definitely be abandoned.

The goal is to focus on the roots rather than the leaves. It is also worth regularly monitoring the growth of horseradish and making timely changes if the situation requires it.
