When growing cucumbers, most summer residents strive to get an excellent harvest.
For this purpose, various fertilizers are introduced and preventive treatments against diseases are carried out. Why not analyze the universal fertilizer?
Experienced summer residents use it on their plots for a reason, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .
When to start fertilizing
The first feeding of cucumbers is carried out 15–20 days after the appearance of cotyledon leaves.
This is important because it is during this period that plants need additional nutrients to accelerate growth and development.
What kind of feeding is needed?
During this growth phase, plants especially need nitrogen. Liquid compost is an ideal solution during this period.
The cut is filled with water and left to ferment for one week. Then 1 liter of the solution is diluted in a bucket of water and 1 liter of the solution is added under each bush.
Such fertilizing can be done once every 10 days, trying to maintain soil moisture. Of course, if the humidity increases, cucumbers do not need additional watering, as this can provoke rotting of the root system.
Why is fungal treatment important?
When 2-3 leaves appear on the plant, it makes sense to think about treatment against fungal diseases and other infections that can cause a lot of trouble. Everyone should understand that protection against fungus is of key importance.
What kind of fertilizer can be used?
Milk whey can be used to treat fungal diseases.
Mix 3 liters of whey with 3 liters of warm water and add 12 drops of regular iodine.
If milk is used, the amount of iodine should be increased threefold. This solution should be applied directly to the cucumber leaves.
This treatment is also ideal for:
1. Watermelons.
2. Peppers.
3. Melon.
4. Eggplant.
5. Tomatoes.
Of course, whey can only be considered as a preventive measure. If fungi have already appeared on plants, it makes sense to use higher-quality preparations.
