In October, all work in the garden gradually comes to an end.
However, you shouldn’t disdain feeding some plants: the future harvest directly depends on it.
For example, strawberries need to be fed twice in the fall to double the berry harvest the following year.
How to feed strawberries
Before adding nutrients, make an adjustment for the weather outside. Fertilizers are only effective when it is dry and warm.
In autumn, strawberries need organic matter. You can use one of three time-tested solutions based on bird droppings, ash or manure.
Moreover, ash can be added to plants in dry form.
Strawberries also need mineral fertilizers. It is recommended to use two types of fertilizers:
- superphosphate at the rate of 10 grams of fertilizer per ten-liter container of water;
- potassium salt at the rate of 20 grams per ten-liter container.
Any fertilizers are applied under the root of each strawberry bush.
