Where will the raspberry patch be located?

One of the most important points is lighting - an excess of sun will only have a positive effect on the development of the plant, says Anastasia Kovrizhnykh .

In particular, when choosing a location, you should pay attention to flat areas, or with a slight slope, well drained.

The main thing is that the area is not swampy. Excess moisture will have a negative effect on the result. It would be rational to place raspberries along the fence, as they will fill the unused space.

Planting dates

Although raspberry seedlings can take root throughout the gardening season, it is best to plant them in September.

The ideal ratio of heat and moisture will give a more favorable effect. But it is worth considering the factor that you should not delay until frost, the bushes must have time to take root.

In case of spring planting, try to catch the moment between the first warming and bud break. This way the plant will be stronger and more resilient.

Soil compatibility

If you want to start growing raspberries, you can do so in the fall; the soil should be prepared a month before planting. But if you decide to plant in the spring, you should take care of the soil in October.

For better rooting of the bush, it is necessary to dig up the soil, not very deeply, about 25-30 cm in depth. Also pay attention to the selection of fertilizers.

Of the most common and suitable ones, you can use:
• Humus;
• Manure;
• Compost;
• Mineral fertilizers (superphosphate, potassium).
You can use all of the listed ones together or selectively.

Planting technology

After all the preparations are done, you can proceed directly to planting the bushes.

To do this, you should dig small holes 30 cm deep, sprinkle the plant with earth so that the seedling is fixed evenly. You need to fill it with earth, tamping it well, but not trampling the sprout.

Handfuls of dry soil are used as a mulching covering, which after watering are evenly distributed over the soil around the bush.

To ensure that the raspberry bush develops evenly, we recommend planting it in a 1x1 m, 1.5x1.5 m or 2x0.5 m pattern. Following these simple tips, you will get a good harvest.
