The Colorado potato beetle is defeated with this natural remedy. And the wireworm along with it.
There are so many natural remedies in the arsenal of summer residents that many gardeners reject purchased "chemicals". And they work intermittently.
The Colorado potato beetle and wireworm are among the most common pests that gardeners encounter. Most often, we are talking about potatoes. They love this crop very much.
But there is a way to fight it. You need coniferous. You can use it in autumn, or in spring and summer.
After harvesting potatoes, the needles are scattered over the area and dug up or plowed.
If the soil is acidic, then in addition dolomite flour should be scattered, since the needles acidify the soil even more. Use a glass of "dolomite" per square meter.
This is an effective way to protect against wireworms.
To combat the Colorado potato beetle, use a concentrated solution.
To do this, prepare a decoction: 1.5–2 kg of young chopped pine branches are poured with 6 liters of water and boiled over low heat for 15–20 minutes.
After cooling, strain and dilute with water. For every 4 liters of broth, pour in 6 liters of water and add 2 tbsp. of liquid soap.
Also, a handful of pine needles is thrown into the hole when planting potatoes. This can also protect potatoes from wireworms.
Note
Pine needles are also considered an excellent slug repellent.
