Winter is not a death sentence for those who love to grow various plants on their windowsills at home.

Moreover, some types of greenery do not even require soil: they feel great simply in a glass of water.

Let's figure out what to plant on the windowsill so that fresh greens are always readily available.

Growing greens on a windowsill

Let's start with the fact that to grow even the most unpretentious herbs, you should follow basic requirements:

  • the temperature on the windowsill should always be above 15 degrees Celsius;
  • Plants should always be in the light, so it is important that the window faces south or east;
  • Cut the greens regularly, and this will stimulate the growth of new shoots.

The following types of plants take root best on the windowsill:

  • Green onions. The main thing is that the water barely touches the roots of the plant, and then it will constantly delight you with fresh feathers. It should be changed at least once every 3 days.
  • Basil. And this spicy herb gets along well in water, even if you just put a store-bought bunch in a glass.
  • Mint. This greenery quickly takes root in a cup and can live for a long time simply in water without soil.
