The United States has accommodated Turkey's requests.
Washington has decided to grant Ankara an exception regarding sanctions against Gazprombank.
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing a statement by the head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar.
According to the publication, the head of the department spoke with the agency's journalists and discussed the problem that Türkiye is facing.
Let us recall that on November 21, the United States imposed sanctions against the Russian Gazprombank, as well as six subsidiaries of the financial institution.
Since Gazprombank is the only organization that, according to the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, can accept payments for gas purchases, Türkiye faced a problem.
As Bayraktar noted, the imposed restrictions could have a negative impact on his country’s energy security.
Therefore, negotiations were organized with US officials, as a result of which an agreement was reached to continue making payments for gas imports to Turkey.
