Turkey introduces new security measures for bank cards.
The Banking Authority has decided to ban certain combinations of numbers as PIN codes.
The ban includes simple codes “1234”, “4321”, as well as historically significant codes “1923”, “1453”, “1903”, “1905” and “1907”, writes the publication TRTHaber .
These measures are aimed at protecting users from fraudulent activities.
The ban on simple code combinations is explained by their ease of memorization.
These codes make cards vulnerable to fraudsters.
The combinations "1453", "1905" and "1923" have important historical significance for Turkey. Thus, in 1453 the Ottoman Empire captured Constantinople.
In 1905, Mustafa Kemal founded the Vatan organization.
The combination of numbers 1923 is identified with the year when Türkiye was proclaimed a republic.
These digital combinations are also considered too simple and obvious for users and attackers.
Citizens who use the above codes will not be able to make transactions in Turkey.
