A US presidential candidate has come up with a solution to the record-breaking US national debt.
Donald Trump has once again proven that he is a supporter of crypto assets.
The politician spoke about the US national debt at a private meeting with his supporters, reports the Pravda portal.
Trump said the $35 trillion national debt could be "gotten rid of" by converting it into cryptocurrency.
In 2024, the capitalization of all crypto assets is estimated at $2.23 trillion, which is many times less than the US national debt.
Analysts do not rule out that the crypto market will grow significantly in the future, but in the context of Washington’s external borrowing, this amount may be less.
“I’m going to write on a little piece of paper, ‘$35 trillion in cryptocurrency – we have no debt.’ I like that,” Trump said.
The US national debt is one of the most pressing economic issues for Washington.
American billionaire Elon Musk emphasized that high government spending could threaten the state with bankruptcy.
The US share of global public debt is 35%. In 2023, the global figure reached $100 trillion.
Washington's debt could rise to $54 trillion in the next decade.
