The head of the Goznak Research Institute, Georgy Kornilov, told when the discussion about abandoning cash in the Russian Federation will begin.
Discussion of this issue may start in six years.
By 2030, conditions may emerge for discussing the need to circulate cash, reports Rossiyskaya Gazeta .
Kornilov stressed that this is not about an immediate rejection of cash in 2030. This only means that a discussion on this topic may begin by that time.
The head of Goznak added that in 2024, non-cash payments will significantly exceed cash. The ratio is 90% versus 10%.
Kornilov noted that cash is becoming increasingly expensive for the banking system and for users due to the reduction in the volume of payments.
Therefore, the question of abandoning this option may arise on its own in the coming years, the expert believes.
