Anti-Russian sanctions continue to be a subject of discussion among many experts.
According to the chief director of the energy department at the Institute of Energy and Finance, restrictions primarily hit those who initiated their introduction.
Expert Alexey Gromov expressed this opinion in a commentary to RIA Novosti .
Let us recall that the US and the EU have been introducing restrictions on the Russian oil industry since 2014.
In 2022, the sanctions pressure increased when the so-called oil price ceiling was introduced, due to which Russian black gold cannot be sold for more than $60 per barrel.
According to Gromov, Western countries tried to minimize the risk to themselves by introducing sanctions against the Russian oil industry.
However, this is impossible, since sanctions have the property of a boomerang, which comes back and hits those who accepted them.
Gromov also voiced the main goal of introducing sanctions. In his opinion, the West was primarily seeking to reduce Russia's income from the sale of oil products.
At the same time, he admitted that the Russian Federation had suffered some losses. However, in reality, the consequences could have been much more dire than they turned out to be.
