Svetlana Bessarab said that it is not yet possible to increase pensions to 40% of the average salary.
A member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs called this goal good, but unattainable in the current conditions.
Bessarab also emphasized that in the Russian Federation there are less than two working Russians per pensioner, Lenta.ru emphasizes.
The Russian economy employs 73–75 million people, and the number of pensioners is approaching 42 million.
Pensions in Russia are formed from insurance contributions, which corresponds to 22% of the salary of each worker.
According to the deputy, the issue of pensions for the future is being worked out so that they make up 40% of lost earnings. However, it is difficult to achieve such indicators now due to a lack of funds.
At the moment, the proposal of the Union of Pensioners of the Moscow Region regarding pensions remains at the discussion level.
