Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Patrushev has instructed relevant departments to stop the rise in food prices within two weeks.
The decision was made following a meeting at which specific measures to stabilize prices were discussed.
The departments have been instructed to monitor food prices every day and take measures to reduce them, the Russian Government website reports.
The Cabinet of Ministers is confident that the Russian agro-industrial complex can provide the country with food products. However, it is taken into account that rapid intervention may be required to curb price growth.
The Central Bank of Russia supported the measures, calling on producers to adapt to the conditions of a high key rate.
Manufacturers must maintain their production levels in the context of a high key rate.
