Executive Director of Leman PRO Marina Fytova commented on the reasons for importing nails to Russia.
Nails became cheaper and more profitable to import from China due to the decline of industry in the 1990s.
She explained that Russia does not benefit from dependence on imports, but full localization may pose risks to quality, writes RBC .
She also added that two Chinese factories produce twice the world's total nail consumption.
This makes the creation of our own plant in the Russian Federation economically unprofitable, Fytova emphasized.
Fitova also added that the Russian Federation imports spruce, pine, plant bulbs, cucumber seeds and nails.
The production of these goods within the country is not yet economically feasible.
Although most of the Lehman PRO range is produced domestically, nails are still imported.
