An expert spoke about how pension indexation will take place in Russia in 2025.
Next year, innovations are expected that should lead to a more effective increase in the amount of payments.
In 2025, Russians will have their insurance pensions indexed on February 1 and April 1, RIA Novosti reports.
A transition to a two-stage indexation of payments will be implemented. Pensions will be increased not on the basis of inflation forecasts, but on the basis of actual data.
For example, today indexation is 7.5%. This indicator lags behind the inflation rate for basic expenses.
For example, food inflation has surpassed the double-digit figure. Also, housing and communal services costs have increased significantly in the Russian Federation.
Medicines have also become more expensive. It is expected that by the end of 2024, prices for medicines will increase even more.
The purpose of the two-stage indexation is to increase the size of payments based on the actual level of inflation, rather than on forecasters' data.
