The EC regulator has announced a direct ban on the participation of EU citizens and legal entities in Russian asset swaps.

The ban is explained by the presence in the chain of the National Settlement Depository, which is subject to EU and US sanctions.

Individuals and legal entities from the European Union are not allowed to participate in the asset exchange scheme between investors proposed by the Russian Federation, writes RBC .

The DG FISMA clarifications published by the European Commission state that the participation of individuals and legal entities in the asset swap scheme is prohibited due to the involvement of a depository.

Interaction with NRD is impossible due to sanctions that came into effect in June 2022.
