The Central Bank is going to introduce restrictive measures against microfinance organizations.
Microfinance organizations are planning to prohibit issuing multiple loans to one person.
This conclusion can be drawn from the information published following the discussion of the report on the development of the microfinance market for 2025-2027.
It is noted that the regulator held discussions during which more than one hundred different proposals were studied, as well as questions asked by market participants.
Regarding the issue concerning microfinance organizations, the Central Bank believes that the actions of these organizations must be limited so that Russians do not become mired in debt.
To this end, the Central Bank plans to introduce a number of restrictions aimed at improving conditions for people who use the services of microfinance organizations.
In particular, it is planned:
- issue only one loan to one person;
- reduce the maximum percentage of overpayment on issued microloans from 130 to 100%;
- introduce a fixed cooling-off period so that the client can return to the services of the MFI no earlier than 3 days after repaying the previous debt.
