Less than a year remains until the day when the digital ruble will be fully implemented into the Russian financial system.
The deadlines were announced on Thursday, September 12, by the press service of the Bank of Russia.
The statement on the regulator's website says that leading Russian banks will have to provide the ability to conduct transactions in the digital ruble from July 1, 2025.
In addition, the Central Bank proposed requiring enterprises whose revenue exceeds 30 million rubles to accept payments in digital money from July 1 next year.
1 digital ruble is equal to 1 cash or non-cash ruble. Its main difference is that all operations are controlled by the Central Bank.
The storage and circulation of such funds will be carried out within the framework of a special platform of the Bank of Russia.
Thus, from 2025, three forms of national currency will be in circulation in Russia: cash, non-cash and digital.
At the same time, Goznak previously reported that by 2030 a discussion about abandoning cash could begin.
