The Central Bank commented on the issue of coins with a recognizable character from the children's cartoon "Hedgehog in the Fog".
According to the regulator, it has an agreement with Soyuzmultfilm for the use of the studio's characters.
RIA Novosti reports this, citing a statement made by the Central Bank’s press service.
Let us recall that the release of coins with the image of the cartoon Hedgehog became known the day before. The Central Bank decided to honor the upcoming 50th anniversary of the popular cartoon in this way.
At the same time, the author of the cartoon, director and artist Yuriy Norshteyn considered such a step on the part of the regulator to be theft.
The Central Bank rejected this version, emphasizing that the regulator issued the coins in accordance with the agreement concluded with Soyuzmultfilm. According to it, the regulator has the right to use the characters of "Hedgehog in the Fog".
The press service also noted that in this way the Central Bank pays tribute to the creativity of Soviet animators by establishing the series “Russian (Soviet) Animation”.
Within the framework of this project, coins dedicated to Winnie the Pooh, The Bremen Town Musicians and Well, Just You Wait! have already been issued.
