The boss is planning to fire an employee: top 5 signs

02.08.2024 20:15

The decision to dismiss an employee can be made not only by the employee himself.

Sometimes the initiative comes from the boss, and the latter does it with obvious pleasure.

In other words, he is glad that one of his subordinates will no longer work with him.

The reasons for this are varied: conflicts, failure of the employee to fulfill job responsibilities (cannot do it or does not measure up).

But the most important thing is that the manager rarely makes a decision right away. Usually he prepares for it for a long time, which is usually noticeable.

The main signs by which an employee can understand that the boss is going to fire him.

Creating unbearable conditions

Of course, one can criticize such a boss, because such behavior is still inhumane.

Really, can't you just talk to your subordinate like a human being and explain everything normally? What is this performance for? But, alas, it is also impossible to forbid it.

Sometimes an employee is truly inconvenient for the company, but there is no actual reason to fire him.

So the management is inventive in its methods: it persuades other employees to write reports, to spy, to provoke conflicts. Or the boss does not want to fire, for example, due to staff reduction, because it will cost him a pretty penny.

Resignation at one's own request is the most advantageous option: the payments are minimal, there is nothing to find fault with, and it is impossible to prove forced resignation.

Constant talk that a person needs to look for something better

This is voiced both in person and at meetings. From the outside it sounds unobtrusive, but at the same time regular.

Smart people immediately understand that they are trying to get out of the institution. And if they write a statement, no one will cry or persuade them to stay. On the contrary, they will sign it and let them go with great joy.

Criticism and comparison

Probably, many people are familiar with this tactic from childhood. All these "look how smart Masha is, and you only get C's" carry over into adulthood. And it looks even more disgusting, as if the boss is deliberately pitting his charges against each other.

The main focus is on the undesirable employee: to make him feel like a worthless loser whose place is the last one.

Sometimes this method becomes effective: a person doubts his abilities so much that he leaves the company, and then gets a job as a loader, courier or cleaner.

Appropriate attitude of colleagues

When colleagues distance themselves and stop discussing even work-related issues, this is very telling. Most likely, the boss tried: he said that he wanted to get rid of the employee.

That's why they stay away, not wanting to be next on the firing list.

Removal from important projects and deliberate concealment of information. The bad employee is as if out of the game: he does not know much about the current state of affairs in the institution, he is not invited to discussions. They do not dine with him or sit at the same table.

He may suddenly learn about changes in the employment contract, in the salary, but not in his own. In other words, the director removes him from his duties.

Thus, the attitude of a boss towards a disgraced subordinate is usually quite clear and precise.

It's just that not everyone wants to admit the obvious fact that they want to fire them or force them to do it themselves. But when the so-called "flea-catching" begins, it's better not to delay leaving. They certainly won't let you work in peace in this place: when the manager decides to leave, he almost always gets his way, even if using dishonest methods.
