The Bank of Russia never had plans to completely stop lending.
The bank's position was commented on by the Director of the Financial Stability Department of the Central Bank, Elizaveta Danilova, at a meeting of the Young Economists Club.
Danilova said that the regulator has no “insidious plans,” TASS writes.
The Bank of Russia has not announced any tough measures on lending. It is only engaged in limiting risky loans.
Danilova stressed that financial conditions must remain accessible to the population.
She also noted that the banking sector as a whole is stable.
The Bank of Russia does not expect serious problems in the financial system.
The measures currently being taken by the regulator are aimed at risk management, rather than a complete cessation of lending.
