The Chargé d'Affaires of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation commented on the opportunities available to Russians in his country.
According to Pakir Amza, no one will interfere if Russians want to open a business on the island.
The official representative of the state gave this comment to RIA Novosti journalists.
Earlier, Sri Lankan authorities stated that they would closely monitor all cases where citizens of Russia and Ukraine do business on the island without official permission.
Amza recalled that there is no rule in Sri Lanka that prohibits foreign nationals from doing business.
However, there is an exception. Those citizens who come to the country for tourism purposes cannot work on the island. This applies not only to Russians, but also to residents of any other countries.
For all other Russian citizens who express a desire to do business in Sri Lanka, there will be no obstacles to doing so.
As long as you comply with local laws, you won’t have any problems,” the temporary attorney added in conclusion.
