In some Russian regions, cryptocurrency mining will be prohibited during the cold season.
Following a meeting of the commission on issues of electric power development, the government approved the ban.
The restriction will be introduced during the autumn-winter heating period until 2031, the RIA Novosti article emphasizes.
The ban will apply to the Irkutsk region, certain parts of the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory.
In addition, the restriction will come into effect in the territories of Dagestan, North Ossetia-Alania, Ingushetia, Chechnya, the Kabardino-Balkarian and Karachay-Cherkess Republics, including the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
The release emphasizes that the Ministry of Energy and energy companies have been instructed to work out the implementation of the ban in other regions.
According to the deputy head of the department, Evgeny Grabchak, there are no plans to limit cryptocurrency mining in Moscow at this time.
