Fraudsters have learned to bypass banking systems designed to protect clients' funds.
This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Stanislav Kuznetsov.
Fraudsters have become adept at withdrawing stolen funds through the victim’s smartphone,RIA Novosti writes.
Fraudsters disguise suspicious transactions using contactless payments.
The owner of the funds is asked to download the mobile payment system application. Then they are convinced to link a card belonging to the criminals to it.
The victim then receives a confirmation SMS, enters the data into the application and sends the funds.
After this, the money goes to the scammers’ account, bypassing the banking security system.
The second scheme involves me2me transfers. In this case, the victim is convinced to transfer funds from their account in a secure bank to an account in a less secure one, and from there to the scammers.
Kuznetsov noted that in this situation, banks must improve their security systems with an eye on such fraudulent schemes.
