Russian banks have almost stopped buying dollars from the population in less than perfect condition.

Even small stains or abrasions can cause a rejection .

Banks do not accept such banknotes, even if they themselves have sold them earlier, Izvestia writes.

Banks explain that clients themselves do not want to buy imperfect dollars.

This is due to the fact that abroad they often refuse to accept old and damaged banknotes.

That's why banks try to avoid these problems.

The problem of old dollar bills is relevant not only in Russia, but also in other countries.

Previously, Russian banks could exchange damaged dollars through American banks.

However, due to sanctions, these contracts are now suspended. Therefore, the procedure for exchanging damaged banknotes has become more complicated.

Therefore, banks do not accept imperfect dollars, given the reluctance of clients to buy them and the sanctions.
