According to VTB Chairman of the Board Georgy Gorshkov, as reported by RBC , maximum deposit rates have been maintained for a record long time.
This is due to the high value of the key rate.
Gorshkov explained that such a phenomenon had not been observed on the Russian market before.
He also recalled that the key rate had previously increased sharply in 2015 and 2022.
At the same time, the yield on savings products in banks grew. However, peak values did not last longer than 1-2 months.
This time, maximum deposit rates remain at their highest level for eight months.
Gorshkov believes that the high key rate will last for a significant part of the first quarter of 2025.
