There is currently a period of food embargo against Western countries.
We will talk about Russia reducing imports of certain products.
During the period of the food embargo against Western countries, Russia reduced the supply of some vegetables and meat. RIA Novosti reports details with reference to data from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
It is noted that in 2014, the Russian Federation imposed a ban on the import of certain products from countries involved in sanctions against Russia. Last year, the embargo was extended for the current year.
Compared to 2014, purchases of boneless pork from abroad decreased by 23.5 times. Imports of chicken and beef also decreased.
In addition, vegetables took their place on the list. For example, the supply of cucumbers from abroad decreased by 7 times, cabbage - by 2.6 times, and tomatoes - by more than 2.7 times.
In addition to vegetables and meat, the supply of apples decreased by more than 2.1 times and ice cream by more than 2 times.
Despite this, there are products whose purchases have increased compared to 2014. These include berries and fruits, such as lemons, grapes, bananas, and peaches.
