For my ten-year-old son, being rich and successful means having a big house, a “cool” car, “cool” clothes and a lot of money to live and buy everything his heart desires.
Unfortunately, this stereotypical idea of a rich life is characteristic not only of an immature boy, but also of most of us.
Today, a mink coat for a woman is like a VAZ 2106 car in ancient times - a kind of indicator of status and well-being.
You can wear a mink coat for 250,000 rubles, live in a luxurious apartment bought with a mortgage, drive an expensive car bought with the help of a loan, receive a huge salary and, by some miracle, by the end of the month, be exhausted from waiting for the next one – and be considered a rich person, with a successful family.
Neighbors will not notice such details as monthly loan payments that eat up income, they will not know that if the “rich” neighbor is left without work, he will not survive even a month, he will be eaten up by debts to banks and his own, boundless needs.
Neighbors will see only what we are used to showing off - position, apartment, car, fur coat, clothes. Demonstration of status is much more important for most of us than the formation of financial well-being and the feeling of financial well-being.
We want to seem rich without being so. We demonstrate success with material goods, ranks, but not with reserves in monetary equivalent.
So, what does it mean to be rich? What does it take to become a successful, and most importantly, rich person?
After reading the wonderful book "The Millionaire Next Door", which I recommend to you, I realized that first of all, most of us need to change our ideas about success and well-being. The main thing is to stop being hyper-consumers.
The Eurozone's dismal experience is a clear example of how high consumption can only lead to debt and dependency. Slowly but surely, Russia is following the same path, not without the help of consumer loans, mortgages and credit cards…
You need to understand that a successful and rich person is not the one who earns a lot, but the one who spends little.
A rich person is a person who has a reserve of “fuck you all!” and is not afraid of the risks of staff reduction, salary or pension reduction, he does not know the “financial” fear of his children entering universities, and a divorce from his spouse worries him not at all in connection with a significant deterioration in his financial situation.
What is he like – a rich and successful person? What are the qualities of a successful, rich person? What qualities do you need to have to become one? Here is a very short, but very capacious list:
1. Thrift.
2. Business acumen.
3. Self-organization.
4. Self-restraint.
5. Discipline.
6. Low consumption level.
7. Willingness to take risks.
8. Striving for financial independence.
9. Live more modestly than your means allow.
Do you have the qualities from this list? Are you ready to become a rich person? After all, sometimes it means that you have to give up buying a mink coat today to become rich tomorrow, that you have to throw away those tempting credit cards, drive a car "within your means", or even better, take the bus or the subway...
And before you start drawing up a financial plan, maybe you should take a realistic look at your life and stop living only for the sake and benefit of another “dose” of shopping?
Get your financial documents in order, plan your expenses and change your stereotypical ideas about success and wealth - cultivate the qualities of a successful and rich person, stop leading a consumer lifestyle, because the next step on the path to wealth will be getting rid of debts and investing part of the income.
Earlier I talked about how to get into cash flow.
