The Prime Minister of Armenia criticized the existence of such a concept as Armenian cognac.
The politician recalled that only drinks produced in the corresponding region of France can be sold under the brand name “cognac”.
Nikol Pashinyan made this statement while speaking during a government meeting, RIA Novosti reports.
He recalled that products under this name have been manufactured in Armenia for a century. However, it is fundamentally wrong to consider them as such.
Cognac is an intangible value of France, Pashinyan emphasized, recalling the technology of production of this alcoholic drink.
That is why, the politician noted, in Armenia they are happy when someone says that they produce cognac of the highest quality, but they do not see a smile from those speaking.
It is noted that in 2023, the Armenian side agreed with the EU on issues of producing products under its own brand.
During the negotiations, it was decided that products manufactured in Armenia would eventually be promoted under the Armenian brand.
