New 5 thousand ruble banknotes have begun to appear in Russian regions.
New five-thousand ruble banknotes are available in the Altai and Perm regions.
Yulia Luzhnova, an expert at the Bank of Russia branch in Barnaul, noted that the design of the banknotes includes symbols of the federal districts, RIA Novosti writes.
The front side depicts monuments of the district capital, and the back side depicts regional landmarks.
The updated five-thousand-ruble banknote features landmarks of Yekaterinburg and the Ural Federal District.
The new banknote was presented in October 2023. Before that, the Bank of Russia updated the 100-ruble banknote.
Now new 5,000 ruble banknotes have gradually begun to arrive in the regions.
The new banknotes are distinguished by an enhanced security system against fraudsters.
Old-style banknotes will remain valid after the new banknotes appear.
They will be gradually phased out due to wear and tear and contamination.
