Mortgage defaults spike in Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region

It has become known for which payment Russians from the Leningrad region are increasingly becoming debtors.

The region has seen an increase in mortgage defaulters.

This information was shared by the RBC agency with reference to the collection agency “Dolgovaya Konsultant”.

According to experts, the volume of mortgage debt has reached 597 million rubles. Debt is considered to be loans for which payments have not been received for at least 90 days.

The growth of debt began to be recorded from the beginning of the year. In St. Petersburg, over the first 9 months of 2024, the increase in non-payments was 35%.

Over the past 12 months, the number of late payments has increased by almost half – by 44%.

At the same time, the situation in the Leningrad Region is even more tense. Non-payments have grown to 202 million rubles, and they have grown by 51% and 91% respectively.
