In the fall of 2024, Kazakhstan banks sharply increased the time it takes to process payments for Russian businesses.

The average payment period increased by 24% compared to July.

In an interview with RBC , PEK's financial director Roman Romashevsky said that in some cases payment terms reach two months.

He explained that this is due to the tightening of policies by Kazakh banks. They require more documents and explanations about senders and recipients, goods and transactions.

Managing partner of the Nordic Star law firm Andrey Gusev confirmed the increase in payment terms, which now range from several weeks to two months.

According to the founder of Digital VED, Anna Fomicheva, the situation worsened about three weeks ago.

Now the minimum payment period is from 7 days to a month.

Experts say the reason for the changes is the strengthening of international sanctions and measures to combat money laundering.
