Vladislav Shapsha spoke about the production of cars under the Citroën brand in the region.
The PSMA Rus plant in Kaluga launched serial production of the Citroën C5 Aircross car in March 2024, RIA Novosti reports.
Shapsha called this car “our car,” which is now produced at facilities in the Kaluga region.
French businessmen should not be offended by Russia, the politician said. In the current situation, former partners should be offended by themselves, Shapsha believes.
The governor specifically emphasized that the Kaluga plant assembled and presented the C5 model during the same period when the mayor of Paris made an anti-Russian statement in the context of the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in the Olympic Games.
Russian assembly of Citroens has been underway since March, and the first sales began in May. In early August, it was reported that the price of the C5 model had dropped to 3.7 million rubles.
In addition, the Citroën C5X is produced in the Russian Federation, the cost of which is 4.3 million rubles.
