Russian banks often transfer debts to collectors after 30 days of overdue payment.

This was reported by the general director of the collection agency ABK, which is part of the Sberbank group, Maxim Koloskov.

Debts are not transferred in the early stages, as this is considered a technical delay, RIA Novosti writes.

The transfer of debts to collectors is carried out in accordance with Federal Law 230-FZ. It regulates the activity of returning overdue debts.

Banks hold tenders to select collection agencies. During these events, agencies compete, offering the best conditions for purchasing debts.

Banks evaluate the agencies' offers and choose the most advantageous one.

Koloskov explained that collection agencies inform the client within five days about the repurchase of the debt from the bank.

The relevant information also appears in a special register.
