Moscow will help Pyongyang overcome the food crisis.
Russia intends to supply rice to North Korea.
This was reported by the South Korean publication The Korea Herald .
South Korean parliamentary intelligence committee member Wi Song-lak claims that Russia is ready to supply the DPRK with 600-700 thousand tons of rice annually.
The republic itself produces up to 4 million tons of this grain every year. But this is not enough to satisfy domestic demand.
Adding supplies from Russia to this volume would be enough to help North Korea overcome its food crisis, a South Korean official said.
According to him, the Russian Federation had previously sent a batch of rice to the DPRK in the amount of 50 thousand to 100 thousand tons.
The official believes that North Korean politicians have made a profitable deal with Russia.
This agreement should help Pyongyang overcome the financial and food crisis, Wi Son Lak summed up.
In 2024, Russia set a course for strengthening relations with the DPRK in a number of areas. Pyongyang is considered one of Moscow's partners amid the political conflict with the West.
