Interactive Brokers Bans Russians from Depositing Yuan and Lira Accounts

Interactive Brokers has imposed a ban on deposits in 12 currency pairs, including yuan and lira, for Russian clients.

Clients are allowed to withdraw funds in these currencies until August 30.

The ban on deposits in Chinese yuan and Turkish lira by Interactive Brokers became known from a client mailing to Russians, writes RBC .

The message says that the possibility of withdrawing funds remains. Operations in the specified currencies will be available until August 30.

Previously, Russians were blocked from sending dollars and euros to accounts at Interactive Brokers.

After that, the most popular currencies for replenishing accounts became yuan and lira.

The ban on yuan and lira shows that Interactive Brokers continues to impose restrictions on Russians after spring 2022.
