The head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergei Dankvert, explained the reason why Russia is reducing food imports.
According to the expert, the products in question are far from quality standards, and cats in the Russian Federation are “offended.”
In a conversation with RBC, Dankvert emphasized: “The packaging may say that the product contains duck, but there is none, and our cats are offended.”
At the same time, the head of Rosselkhoznadzor emphasized the fact that foreign suppliers are still actively operating in the Russian Federation.
Assessing the situation
In May of this year, the organization noted that 83 percent of dry cat foods were criticized.
Thus, in particular, the specified products are far from the approved standard indicators.
In addition, it was noted that 70 percent of foreign brands prefer to equip their feed with pesticides.
According to statistics, only one manufacturer of cat food has come close to meeting the requirements of the Russian GOST.
