IMF Recognizes Russia as World's Fourth Largest Economy

In 2024, Russia's share of GDP at purchasing power parity will be 3.55%.

Russia managed to outpace Japan in this indicator.

According to a new IMF report, this makes Russia the fourth largest economy in the world, according to a report on the International Monetary Fund website.

According to the fund's estimates, their share in the global economy has increased by 0.7 percentage points compared to previous estimates.

Previously, Russia's share in global GDP in 2024 was estimated at 2.9%.

In this indicator, Russia has overtaken Japan, which has moved up to fifth place.

The top lines in the ranking were distributed between China, the USA and India.

The IMF also improved its forecast for Russian economic growth by 0.4 percentage points, with growth expected at 3.6%.

The data presented are based on the results of the new round of the International Comparison Programme for 2024.

The forecast for 2029 suggests that Russia will remain fourth without any threat of losing this position.
